Death of 56-year-old inmate believed to be from natural causes

An inmate who had been confined at the Fulton Reception and Diagnostic Center died Monday morning at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, according to the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Jacobs, 56, was serving a nine-year sentence for two stealing charges from Audrain County, one theft/stealing charge from Pike County and a charge of accessory to stealing in Cooper County. He also was under probation supervision for three counts of stealing from Audrain County.

Corrections officials said Jacobs died of apparent natural causes.

He had been in the custody of the corrections department since February 28, 2013.
