New Jamestown school buses arrive

The three new Jamestown school buses have arrived. This means that three of the five buses which transport the district students are new ones to start off this school year.

The pending arrival of the new buses was spoken of at the July 13 meeting of the Jamestown Board of Education.

Following the calling of the meeting to order by board President Shannen Imsland, the consent agenda was approved. The new superintendent, Gretchen Guitard, presented the superintendent's report, which included the announcement that all staff positions have been filled. A construction update was presented, along with discussion regarding specific construction projects.

A meeting with the teaching staff is scheduled to plan for the events surrounding the total solar eclipse, which will be on the first day of school, Aug. 21.

In other business, lunch prices were approved - kindergarten-fifth grade lunch prices will be $1.85 next year and sixth-12th lunch prices will be $2.15. Tuition for students interested in attending Jamestown C-1 School District, but not residing in the district, will remain at $4,500 annually. Bids for bread, dairy, and fuel were accepted.

Consideration of athletic season pass prices were tabled and will be taken up at the August board meeting.

An open house is scheduled to be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17.
