It was a full house the evening of March 9 for the second-grade musical "Go Fish!" The elementary students performed the program at the California High School under the direction of Stacy Friedrich.

The theme song "Oceans of Fun" served as both the beginning number and the ending reprise. Other pieces performed by the second-graders were "We're Sharks," "Commotion in the Ocean," "Roundup Under the Sea" and "Colors of the Sea."

The story involves whether one of the sharks can be friends with the other inhabitants of the sea. The fish and other sea life say it's not possible for a shark to be friends with any other sea life. The other sharks agree in a rap that they can't be friends because they are sharks. There is a lot of interplay between a seven-tentacled octopus, a zebra-fish for which something went wrong resulting in spots rather than stripes, a blow fish with allergies, a tuna that can't carry a tune, a starfish that hasn't had a leading role in a year, clown fish that tell jokes, sea horses and a number of different dancers.

As it turns, out the Great White Shark comes with his personal guards, a pair of swordfish, listens to the problems and, in the end, convinces all the denizens of the sea that everyone has inside something that makes them unique. As one says, "I think I see that different is nice." A reprise of the first song, "Oceans of Fun," is sung, ending the performance.
