Lunch was served and the 2016 Cooperator of the Year Award was presented to Harold, Mary and Byron Haldiman.

Two of the board supervisors, who are retiring, were acknowledged for their years of service. Darrell Hoellering has served 16 years on the SWCD Board of Supervisors and Harold Haldiman has served 12 years. Each was presented with a plaque and a gift of a small pocketknife etched with their name.

The election of Area I and Area II supervisors was held 8 a.m.-2 p.m. with Douglas Strein elected Area I - Linn Township - Supervisor and Bruce Longan elected Area II - Walker Township - Supervisor. These terms are for four years and no wage is earned.

Supervisors manage the administration of district policies, programs, personnel and funds. The district is supported by the one-tenth-of-one percent parks, soils and water sales tax. All Moniteau County landowners with a FSA Farm number are eligible to vote.
