Teenager held in Jefferson City murder case

A Jefferson City teenager may be charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with last month's death of 63-year-old Jerry Robertson.

Police report they detained a 16-year-old male suspected of involvement in assaulting the victim who died at the scene of the crime after medical attempts to save his life were unsuccessful.

Jefferson City officers were called shortly after 11 p.m. April 21 to the 1400 block of East Miller Street following the assault. Investigators determined Robertson's wounds were consistent with blunt force trauma. Detectives say they interviewed a number of people and followed multiple leads in order to determine who might have been responsible for the attack.

The teenager, whose name is not being released because he's classified legally as a juvenile, was taken into custody Thursday and held at the Prenger Family Center pending possible charges.
