The remodeling work at the California United Methodist Church is complete; the dedication of the improvements was held Oct. 15.

Fundraising continues to raise money to pay for the project, the cost of which was more than $50,000. A major part of the work was to improve access and comfort in various parts of the church facility, including handicapped access to different parts.

One noticeable addition is a very nice coffee bar. It is in a small alcove, which once held a very small restroom. The small space is now a useful, and appreciated, attractive refreshment area.

There is a new enlarged, improved, updated and handicapped-accessible restroom adjacent to the new nursery, which was previously the choir room. The new nursery is brighter and more child-friendly. The new choir room was once two smaller classrooms.

There is new flooring, including carpeting in some areas, and faux-wood vinyl flooring in some high-traffic areas.

Something new is a comfortable family room, complete with artificial fireplace. This room was created from two classrooms and the library.

Member Patty Kay provided assistance in planning the whole project.
