Jefferson City man faces multiple charges after foot chase

A Jefferson City man was being held without bond Monday after a foot chase with police over the weekend.

Court documents show Terrence Strickland, 27, is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while revoked.

An officer stopped Strickland early Saturday morning in the 600 block of Stadium Boulevard for having expired license plates, according to a Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement. He was also found to be driving while revoked.

A search of the vehicle located marijuana, a digital scale and plastic bags used to package marijuana.

Strickland fled into a nearby creek as officers attempted to handcuff him, but officers eventually caught him.

A further search of the vehicle turned up a loaded 9mm handgun. Strickland, who is a convicted felon, is not permitted to possess a handgun.
