The annual "Muffins for Moms" event was held at the California Elementary School Oct. 4. The special breakfast for an elementary student and his or her mother, grandmother, aunt or other female relative was held 7-8 a.m.

The school's kitchen staff arrived at 6:15 a.m. to prepare a breakfast of biscuits and gravy, and other regular breakfast items, for 540 people, including 151 visitors.

After breakfast, the moms and other visitors went on about their day and the students went to their classrooms.

The event is organized by the elementary school staff, to get to know the moms of the students and show appreciation for their involvement in the education of their children.

"Donuts with Dads" was being held in the cafeteria beginning at 7 a.m. today (Oct. 11).
