Cub Scout Pack 120 welcomed families of current scouts and prospective scouts to a Family Fun Day and Registration Event Aug. 27 at the Lion's Club Pavilion at Proctor Park.

Darkening clouds and a warning of rain on the radar didn't discourage attendance for the event.

Cub Scout Committee Members and Den Leaders were on hand to help register new scouts and assist parents in filling out forms, ordering uniforms, and answering questions, while the youngsters and their siblings enjoyed the playground equipment and games of tag and King of the Mountain.

Cameron Freiner and current cub scouts led everyone in singing the "Superman Blessing," before everybody settled down to enjoy barbecued hot dogs, sides and desserts, provided by Cub Scouts Committee Members, Den Leaders and Cub Scout Families.

After the meal, Cameron Freiner and Cub Scout Chairman Jenny Cain explained the benefits of scouting, handed out den information and calendars of upcoming events, and answered a few more questions from parents.

The clouds disappeared and the sun re-appeared. The warming temperature gave the Cub Scouts and their siblings the perfect opportunity to enjoy getting thoroughly soaked during a water balloon fight.

Pack 120 is happy to welcome so many new Cub Scouts this year and is excited about the many fun activities planned.

Upcoming events include grade-level den meetings Sept. 18, pack meeting Oct. 16, and a pack meeting with Halloween party at the California Shooters Club Oct. 28.

Cub Scouting is open to boys in first through fifth grade. Applications for new scouts will be accepted through Sept. 18. Financial assistance may be available.
