The Jamestown School Board at its regular meeting Sept. 14 was given an update on the remodeling work being done this year at the school.

The library, computer lab, special education classroom and four elementary classroom upstairs have been remodeled. A new elevator is being added to the school facility, and a catwalk giving access from the upstairs classrooms to the new elevator. The adjacent hallways also have undergone work.

Outside landscaping work is underway. Superintendent Gretchen Guitard said all the work is expected to be completed mid-October. In addition, the board discussed the Lions Club Announcer Box remodeling. Additional insurance option considerations were discussed.

A PTO report was given. The report included an update on the fall festival, which will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the gym. The consent agenda was approved. Enrollment was reported at 209 students.

The meal charge policy was approved. Students will be allowed to charge a maximum of $10 dollars. After the balance exceeds that amount, the student may be given a designated menu alternate.

Citizens of the Month were introduced. They are first grader Sarah Baepler, second grader Natalie Proctor, third grader Sophia Griffin, fourth grader Hudson Clay, sixth graders Henry Hirschvogal and Lyric Kroeger, seventh grader Brienna Crider, eighth grader Myrel Evans and freshman Callon Kersey.

The building usage policy was reviewed, but tabled pending additional information. The board amended the board meeting start time, changing it to 6 p.m. rather than 7 p.m. The board agenda policy will be reviewed at the October meeting. An executive session was held.

The next meeting is Oct. 12.
