Kansas man charged in Mid-Missouri credit card fraud

A man from Wichita has been ordered to serve a three-day sentence in the Cole County Jail for pleading guilty to a charge of misdemeanor receiving stolen property for his part in a scheme to make multiple purchases with fraudulent credit cards at furniture stores across Missouri, including Jefferson City.

As part of his sentence handed down Tuesday, Quantin McIntosh, 34, was given credit for three days served. Cole County Associate Circuit Judge Tom Sodergren also ordered McIntosh to pay $250 in fines.

Officers responded Jan. 15 to Furniture Factory Outlet on Missouri Boulevard, according to Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statements. Store management told officers more than $8,700 in fraudulent purchases had been made at the store. They also learned a fraudulent $18,000 purchase was made at an FFO store in Sedalia and a fraudulent $12,000 purchase was made at an FFO store in Warrensburg.

Officers returned to FFO on Jan. 16 after a report of people trying to get into the U-Haul. Officers stopped a vehicle seen leaving the parking lot in which McIntosh was a passenger.

Officers searched the U-Haul and found a bag containing sales receipts from each of the FFO stores.

McIntosh told investigators he went to the Jefferson City store but knew nothing about the fraudulent gift cards.
