Jefferson City man charged in home burglary

A Jefferson City man has been charged with breaking into a Cole County home Monday evening.

Ryan Robinett, 38, is charged with one count of second-degree burglary.

Deputies were called just after 5 p.m. to a residence in the 7600 block of Loesch Road, according to a Cole County Sheriff's Department probable cause statement.

A resident had called 911 saying he was following Robinett through the woods and he had broken into the residence.

Other deputies arrived and eventually took Robinett into custody.

The resident said he saw Robinett with a set of golf clubs outside of the rear of the residence.

Deputies searched the residence and found a rear door open. The homeowner later said the golf clubs had been kept in the garage.

When questioned, Robinett said he had permission to take scrap from the residence and that the golf clubs had been outside.

Robinett was wanted on four outstanding warrants when he was arrested.
