Trike-a-thon to raise money for St. Jude

The California Kids Daycare is hosting a trike-a-thon to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital April 27.

It is the second year the event will take place. The trike-a-thon will be at the daycare facility at 800 Lake Drive.

Last year, the trike-a-thon raised around $1,500 and this year the day care is hoping to raise $2,000. All of the money raised will go to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Anny Wolford, the owner and director of the daycare, said that St. Jude called them and asked if they would be interested in having the event.

"I looked into it and found out 100 percent of donations go directly to St. Jude patients," Wolford said.

She explained that a trike-a-thon is when children ages 2-5 ride their bikes for around an hour up and down the street.

"Their sponsors just donate a set amount," Wolford said. "The street is closed specifically for this event."

Wolford said that the event teaches children important lessons and that the community has been really supportive of the idea.

"Having a trike-a-thon teaches the children of our community about giving and caring for others," Wolford said. "The community is 100 percent on board and have been very generous and supportive."
