Wanted JC man arrested after chase

A Jefferson City man wanted on a larceny charge out of Cole County was arrested Wednesday after a chase with Moniteau County authorities.

Dennis Smith, 35, was charged in Moniteau County with resisting arrest, speeding and not having a driver's license, according to Moniteau County Sheriff's Department reports.

A deputy attempted to stop Smith on U.S. 50 for a violation, but he drove away.

The pursuit continued east on U.S. 50 outside of California; and as Smith headed toward Cole County, he attempted to cross the median and was forced to stop.

Smith got out of his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, but deputies caught him.
