Moniteau County Fair royalty selected

Halle Oliver, California, was crowned the 2018 Moniteau County Fair queen Aug. 7.

She is the daughter of Gary and Jana Oliver, a 2018 graduate of California High School and an incoming student at University of Missouri-Columbia.

Other contestants were second runner-up Emily Strein, Jamestown, and first runner-up Alyssa Sabartinelli, California.

The contest was decided with 40 percent graded on their earlier interviews with judges, 40 percent from talent and 20 percent from evening gown.

Sabartinelli won the talent portion with her vocal performance of "I Hope You Dance."

Oliver performed "Are YouWashed?/I'll Fly Away" on fiddle and vocals accompanied by her uncle Martin Albertson. And Strein danced to Maroon 5's "Wait."

Strein won the evening gown portion. And Oliver also received the congeniality award.

The 2018 Little Mr. and Miss also was decided Aug. 7.

McKenzie Reed was selected from 23 girls ages 3-5 and William Groepper from 14 boys.

The traditional events were sponsored by the Moniteau County Fair board and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
