Bonnie Woffrum was one of the first in line to donate at the community blood drive Nov. 29 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

The community blood drive is a chance for local residents to give back to a good cause. The American Red Cross set up in the basement of St. Paul's Lutheran Church Nov. 29 from 1-6 p.m.

"There's always a blood need" volunteer Leslie Powell said.

More than 20 donors had been to the location just before close. Powell said a steady flow of community members entered the basement to donate.

"It's been great," Powell said. "It's something to help the Red Cross."

The drive fell a few numbers short of its goal to collect 30 units of blood.

Bonnie Woffrum said she almost never misses a chance to donate. She was one of the first to line up that afternoon.

The next drive will be 1-6 p.m. Jan. 30 at the church.
