Brian Perry, left, enjoyed a breakfast outing at McDonald’s with several California Police officers, from left, Jeff Lewis, Rafael Ayala and Capt. Dale Embry on Feb. 17. The breakfast was only the first part of the birthday outing, arranged by his grandmother, Janice Anderson. Perry resides in Columbia.

Several California police officers took a visitor from Columbia, Brian Perry, to McDonald's for an early birthday breakfast Feb. 17. He turned 28 on Feb. 19.

The surprise trip out for breakfast for Perry was arranged by his grandmother, Janice Anderson, working with officers of the city of California Police Department. Her grandson was visiting for a few days.

Anderson explained that Perry, who works for Central Missouri Subcontracting Enterprise "Giving Garden," is now in need of more "male bonding," since his father, Brian "Keith" Perry, died in July.

All in all, it was quite a weekend for Perry. Wearing a California police jacket, he breakfasted at McDonald's with Capt. Dale Embry and officers Rafael Ayala and Jeff Lewis.

He then stopped by the California Fire Station and visited the fire fighters.

He attended the California United Church of Christ Feb. 18, meeting many men of the congregation and the Rev. Eugene Moll. That was followed up with lunch at the Panda Chinese Restaurant with Morris and Dolores Burger and Philip Burger.

Since he was interested in seeing another greenhouse to compare to the one he works in, his busy day ended with a tour of Longfellow's Garden Center, Centertown. He reportedly enjoyed being shown the pansy greenhouse by Alice Longfellow.
