Chamber of Commerce and Industry launches GovWatch

The Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry spun off its Jefferson City-based legislative tracking service at the end of December to be operated as an independent entity, according to a news release.

The chamber has owned GovWatch, a web-based system which provides fast and accurate information about the Missouri General Assembly, since 1994.

The system analyzes the text of every bill, amendment and substitute in the assembly for lobbyists, unions, government entities and media representatives. The service also provides stats about legislation, member, committees, voting records and campaign information.

Chris Galloway, who has seven years of experience operating legislative tracking services, will run the independent company.

"(The year) 2018 is going to be an exciting year for GovWatch as we prepare to expand with several new features in the coming months," Galloway said in the chamber's news release.

Dan Mehan, Missouri Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, said the move will help GovWatch grow.

"GovWatch continues to be an essential tool for anyone interested in what is happening in Jefferson City," Mehan said. "We have high hopes for seeing the service thrive in the future."

Based in Jefferson City, the Missouri Chamber of Commerce is the state's largest business association.
