DNR employee honored for hurricane relief work

A Missouri Department of Natural Resources maintenance worker from Cassville is the State Employee of the Month for January.

Robert Trivette was nominated for work he did when he was sent to Florida to help clean up after Hurricane Irma.

"First off, Robert jumped at the opportunity to help with the clean up when asked," Brian Hunter, his supervisor, said. "The day before he departed for Florida, Robert did a very thorough job looking over all his equipment he was bringing to make sure it operated correctly, was clean to Missouri State Parks standards and marked with the park name so it could be easily tracked."

Once in Florida, Trivette was put on a team under the direction of Sarah Jones, MSP natural resource manager from Rock Bridge Memorial State Park. Upon returning home, Sarah emailed a letter to Hunter praising the work Trivette did and his attitude during the whole trip.

"Robert willingly did anything asked of him with a smile on his face," Jones said. "Even after working long days in all kinds of weather and harsh conditions, Robert kept a positive attitude and listened well to every ones advice and concern. Robert could do three times the work with the Bobcat that a regular operator could do; and since he was so skilled on the Bobcat, Robert received extra work assignments, but he always accepted them with a smile."

Although Trivette has only been working since December 2016, he has made a positive impact at Roaring River State Park, Turner said.

"I can personally say, as his supervisor, it has been a real joy and pleasure working with Robert to see his dedication to this park and how willing he is to do and learn as much as we throw at him," Turner said.
