The E. M. Burger Foundation has donated funds towards construction of additional sidewalks in Proctor Park. The sidewalk, about 96 feet long, has been added in the area of the Lion's Club Shelter House to provide a solid surface to the nearby playground.

A second sidewalk, about 104 feet long, was put in to take children and parents from the Rohrbach Shelter House to the play area east of it.

Both sidewalks provide a safer and cleaner surface for parents to take children, especially those in strollers, from the shelter houses to the two playgrounds.

The foundation provided the funds. The City of California provided the labor.

The E.M. Burger Foundation was founded in 1954 for the purpose of supporting non-profit organizations involved with arts, education and human services. Currently, the foundation consists of four generations of the Burger family.
