Young farmers summer tour coming up

The itinerary and registration form for the MO YF Summer tour July 29-31 is now available. The tour is in Westphalia.

The deadline for early registration is July 20. Hodges recommends those planning to attend look into rooms, since there are not any in Westphalia. He recommends Linn, which the Young Farmers has used in the past.

The headquarters will be at Fatima High School, 143 East Main St., Westphalia. Registration will open at 5 p.m. July 29 at the high school. Sunday evening events will start at 6 p.m. and will include a pork burger meal and entertainment.

The registration desk at the high school will open at 6:30 a.m. July 30 and breakfast will be served at 7 a.m. Buses will start loading at 7:45 a.m. in the Fatima High School parking lot and leave by 8 a.m.

Monday Tour stops include: Osage Wood Shavings, turkey production presentation in Osage County, grass-finished beef at Boeckmann Family Farms, Troesser Family Farm, lunch at Chamois High School, Paulsmeyer farms, Siefert farms for Hereford seedstock and Allis Chalmers collection, and State Technical College of Missouri, Linn, campus tour. The group will return to Fatima High School for the evening meal and program.

The Young Farmers will meet at Fatima High School July 31 with breakfast at 7 a.m. Buses will load at 7:45 a.m. for a planned departure at 8 a.m.

Tuesday Tour stops include: Fechtel Farms, Meta MFA feed mill and fertilizer plant, Wansing Dairy, and Luebbering Profits Point Farm. The attendees will return to Fatima High School for lunch and Power Point from Diamond pet foods.

The event will finish with announcement and door prizes before dismissing.
