Jamestown school board meets

The Jamestown Board of Education met March 8 for its regular monthly meeting. Citizens of the Month were recognized. The PTO spring activities were reported, including the book sale and a fourth-sixth grade luau to be April 13. Public comments followed the PTO report.

The superintendent's report included the recognition of National School Board Members Week and a brief summary of the parent survey. Program reports included kindergarten, first, and second grade.

In old business, the board approved the audit bid, board policy update 5241, job descriptions of the head and assistant coach, and the 2017-18 budget amendment.

In new business, summer school, Harris Lawn Care Services, and the library media specialist job description were approved. The job description for class sponsor, extra duty contract language and the preliminary 2018-19 annual budget were tabled.

An executive session was held after which the meeting was adjourned.

The next school board meeting will be at 6 p.m. April 12 at the Jamestown School.
