A two-day free course on Microsoft Excel will be offered at the Moniteau County Library on Nov. 27.

Seniors and veterans may bring a laptop for an all-day session taught by Cindi Summers. The session is set to run 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., including an hour lunch break. Six laptops will be available to rent. A session also is planned for December. For more information, contact the library at 573-796-2642.

During the Moniteau County Library board meeting Nov. 15, excitement for high circulation numbers was shared by the board. Compared to October 2016, circulation numbers saw an increase of 586.

"We're just getting a lot of new patrons," Director Connie Walker said. "I think the word is getting out that everybody in the county and surrounding counties can use the library for free."

Last month, a total of 39 library cards were issued.

Cyclists can expect a new bicycle rack in the spring. An upgrade from the current three bike racks in the front will be replaced by a slot in the alley between the library and the California Nutrition Center.

"(Friends of Moniteau County Library Services) are willing to fund a 10-space bike rack" Walker said.

She mentioned the old rack will likely be removed, which will create more space at the entrance.

Repair work was completed in the basement, as well as to a drip on the north side of the building, which caused a slick spot on the sidewalk.

The next meeting is 1:30 p.m. Dec. 20.
