City departments get ready for Christmas parade

The California Area Chamber of Commerce's annual Christmas California Style will be celebrated Dec. 1.

Businesses are encouraged to participate by holding open houses, drawings, discounts and special events during business hours that day.

Weekend small business participation in Christmas California Style includes:

Nov. 30

  • 8 a.m.-5 p.m. - Nathan's Tires open house, refreshments and giveaways
  • People's Bank of Moniteau County open house with refreshments
  • 9 a.m.-4 p.m. - Hawthorn Bank open house
  • Central Bank open house at Village Green facility
  • 10 a.m.-3 p.m. - Commerce Bank open house with refreshments
  • 10 a.m.-6 p.m. - Bond Pharmacy open house, 75 percent off Halloween, 50 percent off fall, and 25 percent off Christmas items. Cookies and punch.

Dec. 1

  • 8 a.m.-noon - Clennin Farm Supply, giveaways and special pricing
  • People's Bank of Moniteau County open house with refreshments
  • 9 a.m.-noon - Hawthorn Bank open house
  • 9 a.m.-1 p.m. - Something Sassy open house with hourly specials
  • 1-3 p.m. Mr. G's Liquor wine tasting and refreshments
  • 8 a.m.-5 p.m. - Burgers' Smokehouse register to win a ham. Spend $100 and get a free cooler bag.
  • 10 a.m.-4 p.m. - Bonecutter Off Road and Body Shop free popcorn and hot chocolate, 10 percent off all off-road acessories
  • 8 a.m.-1 p.m. - Bond Pharmacy open house, 75 percent off Halloween, 50 percent off fall, and 25 percent off Christmas items. Cookies and punch.
  • 8 a.m.-noon - The Flower Shop FAO Inc. open house, 25 percent off Christmas items, drawings, refreshments
  • 7 a.m.-8 p.m. - Grind, new holiday drinks and menu, giveaways

Other Christmas California Style events planned for Dec. 1 include:

  • 10 a.m. - California Kids perform in front of Village Green Central Bank
  • 5 p.m. - "A Charlie Brown Christmas" parade will follow Owen Street from the city swimming pool to Oak Street, then down High Street and ending at the Moniteau County Courthouse.
  • about 5:30 p.m. - Lighting the Christmas tree on the courthouse lawn following the parade.
  • 5:30 p.m. - Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus will greet the children after the parade in Sweet Chipotle Event Center on the east side of the Courthouse and the California High School Sounds of Joy will entertain.
  • 7 p.m. - "Cool Yule" by Gracie and Lacy at the Finke Theatre
