Sewer improvements may meet deadline

The completion of the California Northwest sanitary sewer improvements were discussed at the City of California Board of Aldermen regular session Oct. 1.

"We promised the city the sewer project would be done (31st of this month)," Mayor Norris Gerhart said. "It won't be done, but it will work. We're still heading down that way, not really had any resistance. (The) engineer has assured me we will have water and sewer that will function. It's been a good project, a rough project - nothing but rock."

The council also approved the design and development of an outdoor waterpark, presented by Recreation Supervisor Leslie Scheidt. She has been working with Larkin Aquatics, a pool designing company out of Kansas City, to design an outdoor pool for the community to use.

"We had a guy from Larkin take a look at our space, and get a general scope of what we're talking about," Scheidt said.

She will work with Larkin Aquatics on an 11-phase design project for the outdoor facility. Scheidt emphasized this was only the design portion of development.

In other business, the council approved the first draft of seven California Police Department policies, presented by Police Chief John Hoover.
