Ann Perry was named interim prosecutor for Moniteau County on Tuesday afternoon, Circuit Judge Kenneth Hayden confirmed to News Tribune.

Perry has practiced law in Moniteau County for over 32 years. She is the city and prosecuting attorney for the city of California. She was defeated in the associate circuit judge race by Aaron Martin last month.

Former Moniteau County prosecutor Shayne Healea pleaded guilty Tuesday to four misdemeanor crimes stemming from a 2014 vehicle accident in Columbia. Healea was sentenced to 24 months of court-supervised probation and ordered to resign, remove his name from the ballot for re-election in November and other conditions. Failure to complete his probation could result in Healea serving up to one year in jail.

Healea's resignation came in time for the Moniteau County Republican and Democrat committees to nominate candidates to appear on the Nov. 6 general election ballot. He had been unopposed in the Aug. 7 primary and Nov. 6 general elections.
