The Jefferson City Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a man who was interrupted while trying to burglarize the construction site of the new Capital City High School.

Police report an officer on patrol early Saturday morning spotted the individual attempting to burglarize a trailer at the site at 2653 Creek Trail Drive. He's described as a white man of slender build with dark hair, wearing a red hoodie and blue jeans.

The man reportedly fled on foot when the officer tried to make contact with him, and pointed a firearm at the officer during the chase. The officer then suffered a non-life-threatening injury to his leg as he was running through the active construction site and was unable to catch the fleeing man.

Anyone with information to identify this subject is asked to contact police at 573-634-6400 or anonymously through CrimeStoppers at 573-659-TIPS (8477).
