A Versailles man was arrested following a Tuesday pursuit with authorities in Moniteau County.

Eric Riggs, 39, was taken into custody for resisting arrest, according to Moniteau County Sheriff's Department reports.

A deputy was investigating suspicious activity at Salem Baptist Church on Route N near Kliever and saw a pickup parked in the church parking lot around 1 a.m.

When the deputy pulled in behind the vehicle, Riggs pulled away at a high speed, turning onto Route N and heading east. The pursuit went into Cole County then back into Moniteau County, where Riggs eventually stopped on Lookout Trail near California and was taken into custody.

Riggs was found to have a revoked driver's license and reportedly admitted to using methamphetamine.

Authorities said Riggs was on probation for possession of a controlled substance at the time of this incident.
