Historical Society receives funding

The Moniteau County Historical Society reported receipt of additional funding, among other topics, at its August meeting.

The Historical Society received $30,281.56 from the Nothnagel Charitable Remainder Unitrust, which was placed in the organization's general account for future use.

In committee reports, those present were also made aware of a recent break-in attempt. Approximately two weeks ago, there was an attempt to break the lock mechanisms on one of the building's doors. This resulted in failure for the perpetrator, who broke a nearby window instead but did not appear to enter the building. The Historical Society has since repaired the broken window.

Additionally, the Historical Society plans to honor county Korean War veterans at the upcoming Ozark Ham and Turkey Festival Sept. 21.

The Historical Society agreed to allow California Progress, Inc. the use of space in the building for a progressive dinner later this year, in December.

The Historical Society's next meeting will take place Sept. 9.
