Mental health help available

Some illnesses cannot be covered with a bandage. For those suffering from mental health issues, it is oftentimes difficult to not only seek help, but to find it.

This is precisely where Mental Health First Aid of Missouri steps in. The organization, which strives to educate residents to identify, understand and even respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders in respective communities, will host a workshop 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Feb. 20 at the Missouri Coalition Office at 221 metro Drive in Jefferson City.

According to a release, "you are more likely to encounter someone in an emotional or mental crisis than someone having a heart attack."

This day of education requires registration with Vickie Epple at [email protected].

For those wishing to seek help closer to home, Burrell Behavioral Health recently opened a location at 1021 West Buchanan Street Suite 6.
