Sheriff Tony Wheatley was presented the Law Enforcement Commendation Medal on April 20 by the Christopher Casey Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.

In bestowing the award, the chapter cited Wheatley's dedication in keeping Moniteau County safe since taking office in 2017.

"I want to thank the Sons of the American Revolution for their award," Wheatley said. "And also want to thank my staff and the citizens of Moniteau County for their continued support of our law enforcement. We have made significant changes throughout the county, and I am proud to call Moniteau County my home. We will continue our efforts to make Moniteau County a safe place to live and work."

Wheatley received the medal at the SAR's 244th Anniversary Observance where he was the Patriot's Day speaker. With help from K-9 Mizzou, Wheatley gave a demonstration and spoke about the Moniteau County Sheriff's Office K-9 program.
