Governor orders flags at half staff for fallen officer

Gov. Eric Greitens on Friday ordered that U.S. and Missouri flags at all state buildings be flown at half-staff Saturday in honor of Officer Gary L. Michael of the Clinton Police Department, who was killed during a traffic stop Aug. 6.

The governor also ordered that U.S. and Missouri flags at all state buildings in Henry County be flown at half-staff from Aug. 13-19.

"Officer Michael's family and his department still grieve, and the entire state of Missouri joins them in their grief," Greitens said Governor in a news release.

Under Greitens' order, U.S. and Missouri flags at all state government buildings will fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset Aug. 12,, the day the funeral services for Michael will take place.
