After defeating Cole Camp and Stover last week at the Class 2 District 13 Volleyball Tournament to capture the district championship, the California Lady Pintos advanced to Class 2 Sectionals Saturday at California High School, where they lost to St. Joseph's Bishop LeBlond 25-20, 21-25 and 15-25 to end the season 19-11-1.
"I was very disappointed with this match loss because our level of play went downhill as the match went on," California Coach Ashley Atteberry said. "We played extremely well during the first game, then the girls stopped being aggressive and Bishop LeBlond took advantage of that. We got into a few bad rotations that we couldn't get out of, so they were able to build up a lot of points and we were unable to dig ourselves out."
Beth Crow had 10 service points and four blocks and Holly Wolfrum had nine service points. Kaitlyn Allison had 23 digs and Sydney Deeken contributed four kills and seven blocks. Lesa Langlotz had 11 assists and Kelci Dampf had four kills.
Previously in district play at Versailles Oct. 26, the Lady Pintos defeated Cole Camp in the semifinal match 25-17 and 25-13.
The win left California to face top-seeded Stover for the district championship Oct. 26, which the Lady Pintos captured 11-25, 25-22 and 25-19.
