The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission has awarded a contract to resurface a large portion of U.S. 50 in Mid-Missouri.
APAC-Missouri Inc. of Columbia was awarded a contract to resurface nearly 24 miles of U.S. 50 from east of Sedalia to Tipton.
Work to resurface the eastbound and westbound lanes and shoulders will begin in early 2011 and finish in the fall.
The low bid was $6,064,456.45.
The commission also awarded a contract to remove portions of a rock bluff along U.S. 63 in Maries County where heavy rains caused a rock slide last February. It is located just north of the Gasconade River.
H.R. Quadri Contractors LLC of Van Buren was awarded the contract after submitting the low bid of $146,000.40. The work is scheduled to take place in early 2011.
During the work, the contractor will blast rock from the area to reduce the potential for future slides to occur.
