Felony sex charges filed

Felony sex charges have been filed against two individuals in unrelated cases.

A felony charge has been filed in Moniteau County Associate Circuit Court against Bryan C. Huff, 23, Union. The Class C Felony Second Degree Statutory Sodomy charge was filed as a result of an incident alleged to have occurred in May 2009 and reported in September 2010.

According to Court documents, the charge against Huff is alleged to have involved a person less than 17 years old when he was 21 or older.

If convicted on this charge, the defendant could face up to seven years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Bond has been set at $25,000.

A felony charge and a misdemeanor charge have been filed against Travis Ray Smith, 40, California.

According to a press release from the Morgan County Sheriff's Department, Smith appeared with his attorney on Monday, Sept. 27, and turned himself into the Morgan County Sheriff's Office on a charge of Class C Felony Second Degree Statutory Rape and a Class A Misdemeanor charge of second degree child molestation. These charges stem from an investigation by the Morgan County Sheriff's Office.

The child molestation charge results from incidents alleged to have occurred May 28, 2010, and the statutory rape charge results from Jan. 1, 2005.

Bond was set at $50,000.
