The Russellville High School varsity softball team faced New Bloomfield in first-round action at the Class 2 District 7 Softball Tournament Wednesday, Oct. 6, at Tipton, where the fourth-seeded Lady Indians defeated the fifth-seeded Lady Wildcats 6-4.
Miranda Hill recorded the win for Russellville with six strikeouts.
Kaitlynn Siebert led Russellville hits with a homerun, two doubles and three RBI. Abby Payne followed with two singles and 1 RBI, while Haylee Paull also contributed two singles.
With the win, the Lady Indians advanced to semifinals Thursday, where Russellville lost 12-2 to top-seeded Blair Oaks.
The Lady Falcons went on to defeat South Callaway 7-2 to secure the district championship.
Russellville finished the season 13-8.
