Lady Pintos net wins against Lady Indians

The California High School varsity and JV volleyball teams hosted Russellville Thursday, where both Lady Pinto teams captured a match win from the Lady Indians.

California's varsity won 25-8 and 25-19 led by Lesa Langlotz with 13 service points. Kaitlyn Allison contributed 12 digs, while Abby Lueckenotte had seven assists. Sydney Deeken had five blocks, while Kelci Dampf and Holly Wolfrum each had four kills.

California's JV defeated Russellville 25-8 and 25-9 led by Samantha Wise with nine service points and five digs. Morgan Bestgen contributed eight service points including four aces. Taylor Walters had nine assists and Caitlin Meyer and Tiffany Lutz each contributed four kills.

Previously, the Lady Pintos played at Versailles Tuesday, Oct. 5, where the varsity and JV Lady Pintos pocketed wins.

California's varsity won 25-19 and 25-20 led by Allison with nine service points and 13 digs. Wolfrum had six service points and Langlotz had 11 assists. Deeken contributed four kills and three blocks, and Beth Crow had five kills.

California's JV won their match against the Lady Tigers 25-14 and 25-14 led by Audrey Imhoff with nine service points and seven digs. Walters contributed nine assists, while Anna Parry had four kills and Meyer had three.

Previously, the Lady Pintos traveled to Tipton Oct. 4, where California's varsity suffered a loss to the Lady Cardinals, 21-25, 25-11 and 22-25. Wolfrum led California with 13 service points, followed by Crow with nine. Dampf contributed 14 digs and Langlotz had nine assists. Deeken had eight kills and seven blocks.

California's JV defeated Tipton 25-16 and 25-15 led by Wise with 14 service points. Walters contributed nine assists, while Imhoff had five digs. Parry and Lutz each had four kills.

The freshman Lady Pintos lost to Tipton 18-25 and 23-25 led by Samantha Phillips with 12 service points including four aces, and seven assists. Bestgen contributed six kills and four blocks.

"Though we didn't play very well last week, we were luckily still able to pull out a couple of wins, unfortunately not against Tipton," California Coach Ashley Atteberry said. "We had a lot of games last week and it was also Homecoming week, so we haven't had too many practices. We need to get back to work in practice so we will be ready for the last few weeks of the season."

California hosted Fatima Tuesday, however, match results were not available at press time. The Lady Pintos will play at Osage Thursday, beginning with the freshman match at 5:30 p.m.
