Upcoming Road Work for Mid-Missouri August 1-5

The following is a listing of general highway maintenance and construction work in the mid-Missouri area for the week of Aug. 1-5, 2011. Weather conditions may cause postponements in the work schedule. Other construction or maintenance work may occur on other roadways throughout the area. Many projects will include lane closures and delays can be expected. MoDOT reminds the public to buckle up, slow down, follow posted signing and drive safely through work areas. All Counties

Daylight Hours

Mowing of right of way is underway in various locations. Motorists should travel with care and be alert to slow moving equipment along the roadside.

Benton County in Southwest Region

Daylight Hours

Route 65 from south of Route 52 to just north of the Osage River in Warsaw - Widening highway to four lanes continues. The contractor continues working on grading, culverts and pipe work, and roadway construction. Minor traffic delays can be expected on existing Route 65.

The project is scheduled to be complete in summer 2012.

Boone County

Daylight Hours

Interstate 70 between the Missouri River Bridge and Route BB - Concrete barriers are in place on the eastbound shoulder. Crews are working in the shoulder area to excavate and repair a portion of roadside fill to prevent the soil from sliding and damaging the pavement. Both eastbound lanes are open to traffic during the work. The ramp to Route BB is narrowed. The work continues through early August.

Route 163 (Providence Road) and Route 740 (Stadium Boulevard) in Columbia - Permit work to improve utilities continues through late September.

  • The right turn lane from northbound Route 163 to eastbound Route 740 is closed to traffic. Motorists can detour around the area by using Champions Drive to Mick Deaver Drive to Route 740.

  • Monk Drive is closed to traffic at Route 740. Motorists can use Maryland Avenue or South College Avenue to detour around the area.

  • A temporary employee entrance has been constructed for the Veteran's Hospital.

Daylight/Overnight Hours

Route NN bridge over Lick Fork Creek, three miles west of Route 63 - Bridge replacement is complete. The bridge opened to traffic on Monday, July 25. This project is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.

Callaway County

Daylight Hours

Route 54 bridge over Katy Trail, one-half mile north of the Route 63/54 Interchange - Bridge maintenance in the eastbound lanes will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 2. One eastbound lane will be open through the work area.

Route 63 at the Turkey Creek Bridge - Bridge maintenance in the northbound lanes will take place Wednesday, Aug. 3 and Thursday, Aug. 4. One northbound lane will be open through the work area.

Route 94, two miles east of Route CC, near Steedman - Culvert pipe replacement will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 3. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route EE between Route B and end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay will take place Monday, Aug. 1 through Thursday, Aug. 4. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Daylight/Overnight Hours

Route Z between Business 54 in Fulton and Interstate 70 - Roadway resurfacing will take place Tuesday, Aug. 2 through Tuesday, Aug. 9. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Camden County

Daylight Hours

Route J between Route 54 and Route 7 - Chip sealing roadway surface to extend pavement life. The operation will take place Tuesday, Aug. 2 through Thursday, Aug. 4. Motorists should expect to encounter loose gravel on the road surface for several days after the seal coat is complete. At that time, crews will sweep the roadway. Drivers should lower their speeds through the area. Motorists should expect delays. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route O between Route 54 and end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay will take place Monday, Aug. 1. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Overnight/Daylight

Route 54 between the Grand Glaize Bridge to west of Route KK in Osage Beach - Grading, drainage work, paving and bridges for the new Route 54 Expressway.

  • Traffic on Laguna Beach Road is being routed onto the service road where they will access the new Case Road interchange.

  • The contractor is blasting and excavating rock at the Case Road interchange to place near the Grand Glaize Bridge.

  • Traffic is now on a portion of the new Route KK through the roundabout. The contractor will continue building the remaining portion of new Route KK and the interchange ramps. They will also continue to excavate material west of Route KK for the new Expressway. No traffic delays expected at this time.

  • Forrester Road traffic near the Lake of the Ozarks is using the new Case Road Interchange. The contractor plans to continue building the rest of the new service road and remaining entrances to the east. Minor traffic delays are expected during the tie-in portions of this work.



  • The contractor continues to pave between Route KK and Case Road interchange.

This portion of the project is scheduled for completion late 2011.

Route D bridge over Spencer Creek, approximately three miles south of Route 54 - Bridge replacement is nearing completion. The bridge is scheduled to open to traffic the week of

Aug. 1. Motorists will be detoured around the work area on Route 54, Route 5 and Route D. This project is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.

Route W bridge over Mack's Creek in the town of Mack's Creek - Bridge replacement is scheduled to begin Tuesday, Aug. 2 and continue through mid-September. The bridge will be closed to traffic during the work. Motorists are asked to find alternate routes around the work area. This project is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.

Camden and Miller Counties

Daylight Hours

Route 242/Horseshoe Bend Parkway between Lake Ozark Community Bridge and Route 54 - Grading and paving for a new four-lane highway.

  • The contractor is excavating and placing material on the western end of the project near the Lake of the Ozarks Community Bridge.

This project is scheduled for completion in late winter 2011.

Cole County

Daylight Hours

Ellis Boulevard exit ramp to eastbound Route 54 - Concrete replacement will take place Monday, Aug. 1 and Tuesday, Aug. 2. The ramp will be narrowed during the work.

Route 50 between Route U and Lookout Trail - Roadway maintenance and repair in the westbound and eastbound lanes will take place on Friday, Aug. 5. One lane in each direction will be open through the work area.

Route 179 between Route C and Edgewood Drive - Grading, drainage, and bridge paving for a new interchange. Motorists should expect occasional lane closures. The entire project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2012.

Route 179 between Route 50 and Truman/Industrial Boulevard - Concrete replacement will take place Wednesday, Aug. 3 through Friday, Aug. 5. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Dix Road between Route 50 and Industrial Drive - Concrete replacement will take place Wednesday, Aug. 3 and Thursday, Aug. 4. One lane will be open through the work area.

Cooper County

Overnight Hours

Interstate 70 at mile marker 99 - Concrete replacement in the eastbound lanes will take place Sunday, July 31 and Monday, Aug. 1. One eastbound lane will be open through the work area.

Interstate 70 at mile marker 104 - Concrete replacement in the eastbound lanes will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 2. One eastbound lane will be open through the work area.

Interstate 70 at mile markers 101 and 106 - Concrete replacement in the eastbound lanes will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 3. One eastbound lane will be open through the work area.

Crawford County

Daylight Hours

Route 19 between Route 50 and Route 100 - Partial surface overlay will take place Monday, Aug. 1 through Friday, Aug. 5. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Howard County

Daylight Hours

Route 240 between Main Street in Fayette and Route 124 - Two bridge replacements over Bonne Femme Creek and Boone Femme Creek Overflow. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area. The project will continue through early November.

Route A between Route 124 and the Randolph County line - Partial surface overlay will take place Monday, Aug. 1 through Wednesday, Aug. 3. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route J between Route 5 and Route Z - Partial surface overlay will take place on Monday, Aug. 1. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route Z between Route 87 and Route J - Partial surface overlay will take place Tuesday, Aug. 2 through Thursday, Aug. 4. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route BB between Route O and end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay will take place Thursday, Aug. 4 and Friday, Aug. 5. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Maries County

Route V between Route 42 and Route N - Partial surface overlay will take place Monday, Aug. 1 through Thursday, Aug. 4. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route 54 bridge over Business Route 54 - Bridge maintenance in the westbound lanes will take place on Thursday, Aug. 4. One westbound lane will be open through the work area.

Route 42 bridge over Spring Branch, west of Iberia - Bridge maintenance will take place Monday, Aug. 1 and Tuesday, Aug. 2. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route 134 between Route 42 and the end of state maintenance - Roadway resurfacing is continues through early August. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route A between Route 17 and Route 42 - Partial surface overlay will take place Monday, Aug. 1 through Wednesday, Aug. 3. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route C bridge over Mill Creek, west of Brumley - Bridge maintenance will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 3. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Miller and Maries Counties

Route 42 between Route 54 in Miller County and Route 63 in Maries County - Roadway resurfacing continues through late August. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Osage County

Route C between Route 100 and Route A - Partial surface overlay will take place Wednesday, Aug. 3 and Thursday, Aug. 4. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route CC between Route 50 and the end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay will take place on Monday, Aug. 1 and Tuesday, Aug. 2. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Sestak Slab low-water crossing on County Road 521, approximately three miles from

Route T - Replacement of the low-water crossing as part of federal stream mitigation requirements continues through late August. The road will be closed to traffic during construction. Motorists are asked to seek alternate routes around the work area.

Route W bridge over Flat Creek, 4.5 miles south of Route 50 - Bridge replacement is near completion. The bridge is scheduled to open to traffic the week of Aug. 8. Motorists are being detoured around the work area on Routes 50, 135 and DD. This project is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.

Pettis, Morgan and Moniteau Counties

Daylight Hours

Route 50 from east of Sedalia city limits to Tipton city limits - Roadway resurfacing continues in the driving lanes and shoulders through early fall of 2011. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Phelps County

Daylight Hours

Route T between Interstate 44 and Route M - Partial surface overlay will take place on Monday, Aug. 1. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Daylight/Overnight Hours

Interstate 44 Business Loop at Mile Marker 184 - Clearing and grading work continues in preparation for the upcoming construction of two roundabout intersections. Periodic lane and ramp closures are expected during the work.

Pulaski County

Daylight Hours

Route 17 south between Interstate 44 and the Laclede County line - Partial surface overlay will take place on Thursday, Aug. 4. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route 133 between Route 7 and the Maries County line - Roadway maintenance and repair will take place Monday, Aug. 1 through Thursday, Aug. 4. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Washington County
