ACT Workshops will be held at California High School this fall

California High School will host ACT Workshops this fall to help prepare current juniors and seniors for the ACT Test.

CHS teacher Dana Barr will provide a six-hour workshop for the English/Reading sections of the ACT Test, while CHS teachers Amy Kuebler and Peggy Huhmann will instruct the Math/Science Reasoning sections in a second workshop.

For this to be effective, students should ideally attend all of the sessions for either the English/Reading or Math/Science Reasoning workshops and then take the ACT test. Instruction, practice, and simulated testing will be provided.

Workshop dates for the first semester of the 2011-12 school year are as follows:

English/Reading - 5:45-7:45 p.m. in CHS Room 116

• Sept. 29

• Oct. 27

• Nov. 10

Math/Science Reasoning - 5:45-7:45 p.m. in CHS Room 141

• Sept. 21

• Oct. 12

• Nov. 16

Students interested in attending a workshop must purchase a work book for $21. (If signing up for both workshops, both workbooks will be needed at a total cost of $42.) Barr and Huhmann will be placing a group order for workbooks Sept. 18. Students must have checks turned in to Huhmann or Barr by that time in order to obtain workbooks and must have possession of the workbook in order to attend a workshop.

For more information, see Barr or Huhmann at the high school.
