California Lady Pintos defeat Russellville Lady Indians in extra innings

The California High School varsity and JV softball teams played at Russellville Thursday, Aug. 28, where the varsity Lady Pintos captured a 13-11 win in extra innings. Elle Miller pitched the win for California.

Russellville got off to a 3-0 lead after the first inning, however, California pulled ahead 4-3 in the third inning, thanks to a triple by Amanda Karbinas that drove two runs home, a single by Taylor Ratcliff that drove one run home and a double by Rachel Oerly that scored one run. The Lady Indians added one run in the third inning to even the score at 4-4.

The Lady Indians turned up the heat in the sixth inning with five runs to take the lead, 11-7 lead. Russellville answered with a four-run seventh inning to even the score at 11-11. A scoreless seventh led to extra innings, where the Lady Pintos secured the win, 13-11, with two runs in the ninth.

Karbinas led California hits with a triple, a double and a single.
