Lady Cardinals place fourth in Tipton Tourney

The Tipton Basketball Tournament was held last week (Nov. 28-Dec. 3), where Tipton's varsity girls finished in fourth place.

After defeating Mack's Creek in first-round action Nov. 29, the Lady Cardinals lost 70-38 to Chamois Thursday in semifinals.

Caroline Combs led Tipton with 12 points. Hannah Rugen followed with eight points.

"We played a power house team," Tipton Coach Linda Scott said of Chamois. "We had no answers on defense for their inside out game. They put two six foot girls inside. If we doubled them they hit the outside shots, if we tried to stop the 3-point shooters, they went inside. Our young players are not strong enough to stop the inside play of bigger girls. We're getting better at positioning against our opponent's offense, but physically we just can't push them out. I see improvement each game though. The girls are working hard on each play on both ends of the floor. Our junior and senior players are stepping up and our younger girls are learning with each play."
