The Russellville girls hosted California Dec. 19, where the varsity Lady Indians lost a close game to the Lady Pintos, 58-51.
"What a game," Russellville Coach David Volkart said. "It had all the makings of a great high school basketball game. Both teams played extremely hard; it was close the entire way, and it came down to the last minute. I'm very proud of our girls' effort. They played hard enough to win, but didn't execute good enough. I tell the girls all the time, little things win games and California did more little things correctly than we did. We knew going in it was going to be a battle, and it certainly was. We'll learn from this and continue working toward getting better every day."
Amber Duncan and Hannah Campbell led Russellville with 13 points each. Kennedy Volkart and AJ Grellner followed with 11 each.
