Clarksburg C-II to Screen for Kindergarten

Kindergarten registration and screening for the 2011-12 school year in the Clarksburg C-II School District will be held Friday, March 4. Screenings will begin at 8:30 a.m.; appointments will be made in 20 minute increments. Children who will be five years old before Aug. 1 should enroll at this time. Parents need to call the Clarksburg Elementary School at 573-787-3511 to make an appointment. Parents should take with them shot records, the child's birth certificate, and the child's Social Security card. Copies can be made at the school office.

While parents are filling out the necessary enrollment forms their child will be going through the screening process. The screening process will include testing of vision, hearing, numbers, letter sound and recognition, auditory and visual skills, and paper and pencil tasks. The tests are designed to give the parents and the teacher an indication of a child's readiness for kindergarten.

Missouri State law requires that all children must have his/her current immunizations up to date and a vision screening done by an optometrist before the start of the school year.
