California Young Farmers Chapter

The California Young Farmers have held a variety of educational topic meetings this year. Some of the past topics presented were "Bull Selection and Trichomoniasis in Missouri", Sydenstricker Implement on "Machinery Maintenance Issues", and "Agriculture Outlook" with University of Missouri Ag Economist Dr. Ron Plain. Some of the upcoming topics are "Soil Testing and Farm Chemicals", "Private Pesticide Applicator Training", and "Greenhouse Activities".

Each year a tour of local farms and agribusinesses is held. This year's tour took place at Wieland Farms in Lone Elm. The group got to see a new, modern farm shop large enough to accommodate the largest equipment of the cropping operation.

The California Adult Agriculture Education and Young Farmers Programs are open to anyone with an interest in the topics meetings and other activities offered. Information about upcoming meetings and events can be obtained by calling the California High School Agriculture Department at (573)796-8624 or by emailing Dale Hodges at [email protected].
