Dorothy Jean Foster, age 78, formerly of Tipton and California, Mo., passed away Sunday, December 12, 2010 at the Neighborhoods at Quail Creek Nursing Home in Springfield, Mo.

She was born November 11, 1932 in California, Mo. the daughter of Henry J. and Amanda Lee Allee Schenewerk, both of whom preceded her in death. Dorothy was united in marriage May 20, 1950, in California, Mo., to James Foster, who also preceded her in death in 1995.

Dorothy retired after many years of service as bookkeeper for Co-Mo Electric. After retirement she spent several years working at Cals 2, where she came in contact with many people. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church, north of California, Mo. Dorothy enjoyed quilting and spending time with family and friends, she will be sadly missed.

Survivors include: three sisters; Gladys Felling, of Litchfield, Minnesota, Maxine Siebert, of California, Mo., and Helen Burger, with her husband Jim of Nebraska; special friend, Mandy Britton, with her husband Scott, and children, Jonathan and Maura Pardoe, Emily and Lindsay Britton, all of Springfield, Mo. Dorothy was preceded in death along with her parents and husband, by five sisters; Norma Geier, Jane Imhoff, June Gerlach, Bonnie Borghardt and Hazel Kay.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday December 17, 2010 at Weber Funeral Chapel, in California, Mo. with Rev. Ken Mathes officiating. Burial was in the California City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Baptist Church of Tipton AWANA Group, or First Baptist Church of California AWANA Group.

SCHOENEBERG

Dorothy Marie Schoeneberg, 84, of Jamestown, Mo., passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Tipton Oak Manor.

She was born on June 6, 1926 in Prairie Home the daughter of John Phillip and Louise C. (Baer) Knierim, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married on September 10, 1950 to Clarence Edward Schoeneberg who preceded her in death on December 27, 1991.

She was a 1944 graduate of Prairie Home High School. She worked as a secretary, retiring May 31, 1989 from the Missouri Secretary of State Publications, where she worked for about 11 years, and various other state offices to attain 15 years with the state. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in California, Mo., where she was active in the Ladies' Aid, the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, and was a Braille worker.

She is survived by one daughter, Susan Powell and husband Mike of Jamestown, Mo.; one brother, Oscar Knierim and wife Wilma of Jamestown; two sisters, Ruth Cassil and husband A.L. of Jamestown, and Esther Wilkes of Kansas City; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Knierim and Helen Knierim; six grandchildren, Jenna M. Goff, Adam D. Goff, David A. Powell, Charles M. Powell, Jr., Amy N. Schoeneberg, and Dennis Wood; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Mark Edward Schoeneberg.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in California. Burial was in California City Cemetery. Officiating were Rev. Peter Kurowski and Rev. Martin Hoyer.

Ruth (Lawson) Zey, 100, formerly of California, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Country Club Care Center in Warrensburg, Mo.

She was the daughter of Sidney and Catherine (Peters) Lawson, was born June 7, 1910 on a farm north of California, Missouri.

She graduated from California High School in 1929 and Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg in 1960. Ruth spent 26 years in elementary education and was chosen an Outstanding Elementary teacher in America in 1974. She began her teaching career at Walnut Grove, a country school just north of California, soon after graduating from high school. Among her students were her brother, Raymond, and sister, Virginia. She also taught at a country school north of Waverly, Waverly elementary school, and St. Clair elementary school. She also served as secretary to the superintendent of schools at Warrenton. She was a member of Eastern Star.

Ruth married E. Ray Zey, son of Adolf and Martha (Allee) Zey, June 1, 1930. Ray passed away March 12, 1981.

Ruth and Ray are survived by their son, Robert, who lives with his wife, Janet, in Eagle Rock, Missouri. Ruth is survived by her sister, Virginia Gerhart, of Spring, Texas, two brothers, Norman and Raymond, of California, and her sister-in-law, Lela Zey, of California. Also surviving are two grandsons and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Friday, December 17, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California, Mo. Burial was in California City Cemetery. Officiating was Rev. Linda Pagel.

Memorials are suggested to the Country Club Care Center Residents' Fund, 503 Regent Drive, Warrensburg, MO 64093.
