BRUMETT

John M. Brumett, 65 of Canton, Missouri, died Monday, June 27, 2011 at his home in Canton.

The son of Charles H. and Ruth Anne Howell Brumett was born on March 10, 1946 at Champaign, Illinois.

John was a member of Ipava Presbyterian Church in Ipava, Illinois. He received his bachelors degree from Western Illinois University and a masters degree from University of Missouri-Columbia. He retired from the University of Missouri Extension Service in Lewis County. He served as an Alderman for the City of Canton, Sun-n-Surf Pool Board, and Soil and Water Conservation Board. He was an avid dirt track race fan and worked on antique gas engines and also liked to follow Culver-Stockton women's basketball. He was a loving grandparent.

He is survived by a daughter, Johanna Cox and her husband Joey of Clarksburg, Missouri; and three grandchildren, Jac, Brett and Briar Cox; a sister, Barb Baily and her husband Jack of Macomb, Illinois; and a niece and step-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial funeral service will be held Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Arnold's Funeral Home in Canton, Missouri with Dennis Mayer officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 23, 2011 from 12 noon until the time of services at Arnold's Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Honorary pallbearers are Jim Turner, Billy K. Turner, Beau Taylor, Larry Taylor, Dennis Mayer, Lee Crabill and Bleu Taylor.

Theodore "Ted" Curtis Hastings, age 79, of California, Mo., passed away Saturday, July 2, 2011, at the Moniteau Care Center in California, Mo.

He was born December 27, 1931 in Moran, Kansas, the son of Charles Marshall and Mattie Smart Hastings, both of whom preceded him in death. He was united in marriage January 21, 1951 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, to Jean Farrell who survives of the home.

He was a graduate of Parsons High School in Parsons, Kansas. Ted work for the Railroad a few years and retired after 16 years with Dayton Superior Concrete, formerly known as Ankortite. He was also a rifleman in the United States Army. His pastime was working on and rebuilding automobiles. He also loved music and played the guitar, banjo, mandolin and the fiddle. He was a member of the Annunciation Catholic Church in California, Mo. Ted enjoyed spending time with family and friends, he will be sadly missed.

Survivors include: his wife Jean of the home; five sons, Fred Hastings of Concordia, Mo.; Bill Hastings, with his wife Jane of Parsons, Kansas; Ed Hastings, with his wife Kristin of Gothenburg, Nebraska; Don Hastings, with his wife Nicky of Baxter Springs, Kansas, and Richard Hastings of California, Mo.; three daughters, Theresa Flippin, with her husband David of California, Mo.; Patricia Greenland of Alva, Oklahoma, and Melissa Wilson, with her husband Mike of Ozark, Mo.; one sister; Edith Nokes of Coffeeville, Kansas; 22 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. Ted was preceded in death along with his parents by, one daughter, Christina Marie Hastings; and one son, Anthony Curtis Hastings; four brothers, Robert, Arthur, Marshall and Allan Hastings.

The family will hold a private memorial service. Instead of flowers or memorials, the family ask that Masses be said for Ted.

Maureen Howell, 59, of Prairie Home, Mo., passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011 at her residence.

She was born May 3, 1952 the daughter of Thomas and Delphine (Bange) Moran. She was married on May 7, 1992 to Dennis Howell, who survives of the home.

She was a waitress at Shoney's in Granite City, Ill., and Columbia, and also worked at Denny's in St. Louis. She was a member of Riverside Christian Church in Boonville.

Maureen is survived by two sons, Joseph Howell and fiancé Caitlyn of Jefferson City, Mo., Darrell Johnson and wife Tammy of Mitchell, Ill.; two daughters, Denise Howell of the home, and Christi Butts and husband Jimmy of Madison, Ill.; two brothers Patrick Moran and wife Gracie, Neil Moran and wife Diane; one sister, Sharon Holland; grandchildren, Joslin Erin Howell, Marissa Butts, Nicholas, Noah, and Niles Johnson.

A memorial service was held on Friday, July 1, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. at Riverside Christian Church, 17111 Klinton Drive, Boonville, MO.

The family would ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Maureen Howell Memorial Fund, with checks made payable to Dennis Howell, c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 S. Oak, California, MO 65018.

Mildred K. McPherson, 82, of California, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at California Care Center.

She was born on September 20, 1928 in California, Mo., the daughter of Henry W. and Louise M. (Baker) Strickfaden, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married on December 6, 1947 in Jefferson City, Mo., to Elliott McPherson, who survives of the home.

She was a 1946 graduate of California High School and worked for 29 years at Farmers and Traders Bank in California. Mildred enjoyed playing cards with different clubs, but most of all she loved spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church.

She is survived by one son, John (Jeanne) McPherson of California, Mo.; two grandchildren, Jordan McPherson and Jayna Marriott; two great-granddaughters, Olivia and Preslee Marriott; and one brother, Harold (Bonnie) Strickfaden of Edwardsville, Ill. She was preceded in death by sisters Margaret Strickfaden and Velma Fulks; and five brothers John, Paul, Herbert, Elmer and Andrew Strickfaden.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, July 1, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church. Burial was in Annunciation Catholic Cemetery. Officiating was Fr. Fred Elskamp.

Charlie Pummill, 84, of California, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at his home.

He was born October 5, 1926 in California, Mo., the son of Edgar Clay and Stella Mary (Fischer) Pummill, both of whom preceded him in death.

He graduated from California High School then graduated from Draughon Business College in Springfield, Mo. He was married at Annunciation Catholic Church on July 16, 1960 to Jo Bockhorst who survives of the home. He served in the Army Air Corps. Charlie was an active member at Annunciation Catholic Church in California, Mo. He worked for 30 years for Moniteau National Bank in California, retiring in 1991. He was a board member for the senior housing for 11 years and former city councilman for the third ward.

Charlie is survived by seven daughters, Susan Draffen and husband Daniel, Kathryn Luebbert and husband Todd, Lisa Belt and husband Jeff, Denise Clutter, Stacie Mahowald and husband John, Leslie Jeffries and husband Aaron and Laura Munsterman and husband Nick; 19 grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren; one sister, Henrietta Hentges; one niece, and two nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church. Officiating was Father Fred Elskamp. Burial was at Annunciation Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice Compassus or American Cancer Society c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 S. Oak St., California, MO 65018.

Norbert E. Smith, 95, of Lone Elm, died Monday, June 27, 2011 at Hartmann Village in Boonville.

Visitation was Friday, July 1, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at William Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 2, 2011, at 10:00 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church of Lone Elm.

TUTTLE

Connye J. Tuttle, 61, of California, died June 28, 2011, at Riverdell Care Center.

She was born Jan. 11, 1950, in California, daughter of Benjamin and Florence Inman. She was married Oct. 25, 1969, to Paul Tuttle, who preceded her in death in March 1994.

She is survived by one son, Glen Tuttle, California; one daughter, Renee Tuttle, Winchester, Tenn.; two sisters, Karen Hagemeyer, California, and Jeryl Thomas, Henley; and one granddaughter, Jessica Church.

A memorial service was held Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 3 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in California. Officiating was Pastor Peter Kurowski. Inurnment was in Moniteau Evangelical Advent Cemetery.
