Upcoming Road Work for Mid-Missouri July 27-August 5

The following is a listing of general highway maintenance and construction work in the mid-Missouri area for Wednesday, July 27 through Friday, August 5, 2011. Weather conditions may cause postponements in the work schedule. Other construction or maintenance work may occur on other roadways throughout the area. Many projects will include lane closures and delays can be expected.

All Counties

Daylight Hours

Mowing of right of way is underway in various locations. Motorists should travel with care and be alert to slow moving equipment along the roadside.

Benton County in Southwest Region

Daylight Hours

Route 65 from south of Route 52 to just north of the Osage River in Warsaw - Widening highway to four lanes continues. The contractor continues working on grading, culverts and pipe work, and roadway construction. Traffic on existing Route 65 is not affected.

The project is scheduled to be complete in summer 2012.

Boone County

Daylight Hours

Interstate 70 between the Missouri River Bridge and Route BB - Concrete barriers are in place on the eastbound shoulder. Crews are working in the shoulder area to excavate and repair a portion of roadside fill to prevent the soil from sliding and damaging the pavement. Both eastbound lanes are open to traffic during the work. The ramp to Route BB is narrowed. The work continues through early August.

Route 63 between Route 124 and Route 763 - Roadway resurfacing continues through mid-August. One southbound lane will be open in the work area.

Route 163 (Providence Road) and Route 740 (Stadium Boulevard) in Columbia - Permit work to improve utilities continues through late September.

  • The right turn lane from northbound Route 163 to eastbound Route 740 is closed to traffic. Motorists can detour around the area by using Champions Drive to Mick Deaver Drive to Route 740.

  • Monk Drive is closed to traffic at Route 740. Motorists can use Maryland Avenue or South College Avenue to detour around the area.

  • A temporary entrance for employees only has been constructed for the Veteran's Hospital.

Overnight Hours

Interstate 70 at mile marker 121 in Midway - Concrete replacement will take place on the westbound entrance ramp on Wednesday, July 27. The ramp will be narrowed but will remain open to traffic. Motorists are advised to use caution in the work area.

Interstate 70 at mile marker 111 - Concrete replacement will take place on the westbound entrance on Thursday, July 28. The ramp will be narrowed but will remain open to traffic. Motorists are advised to use caution in the work area.

Daylight/Overnight Hours

Route NN bridge over Lick Fork Creek, three miles west of Route 63 - Bridge replacement is nearing completion. The bridge is scheduled to reopen the week of Monday, July 25. Motorists are asked to seek alternate routes around the work area. This project is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.

Callaway County

Daylight Hours

Route F bridge over Stinson Creek, west of Westminster Drive in Fulton - Bridge maintenance continues through Wednesday, July 27. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Camden County

Daylight Hours

Route N between Route 54 and the end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay will take place Monday, August 1 through Wednesday, August 3. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route O between Route 54 and the end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay will take place on Thursday, August 4. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route W between Route 54 and the end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay continues through Thursday, July 28. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Daylight/Overnight Hours

Route 54 between the Grand Glaize Bridge to west of Route KK in Osage Beach - Grading, drainage work, paving and bridges for the new Route 54 Expressway.

  • Traffic on Laguna Beach Road is being routed onto the service road where they will access the new Case Road interchange.

  • Grading continues from Forrester Road to the Grand Glaize Bridge.

  • Traffic is now on a portion of the new Route KK through the roundabout. The contractor will continue building the remaining portion of new Route KK and the interchange ramps. They will also continue to excavate material west of Route KK for the new Expressway. No traffic delays expected at this time.

  • Forrester Road traffic near the Lake of the Ozarks is using the new Case Road Interchange. The contractor plans to continue building the rest of the new service road and remaining entrances to the east. Minor traffic delays are expected during the tie-in portions of this work.



  • The contractor will work on the new traffic signal at Jefferies Road and Route 54. Some night work will take place on existing Route 54 in the eastbound and westbound lanes. Some traffic delays are expected.

This portion of the project is scheduled for completion late 2011.

Route D bridge over Spencer Creek, approximately three miles south of Route 54 - Bridge replacement is nearing completion. The bridge is scheduled to open to traffic the week of Monday, August 1. Motorists are being detoured around the work area on Route 54, Route 5 and Route D. This project is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.

Camden and Miller Counties

Daylight Hours

Route 242/Horseshoe Bend Parkway between Lake Ozark Community Bridge and

Route 54 - Grading and paving for a new four-lane highway.

  • The contractor is excavating and placing material on the western end of the project near the Lake of the Ozarks Community Bridge.

  • The contractor will haul material over Fish Haven Road toward the eastern end of the project near Route 54. Minor traffic delays on Fish Haven Road can be expected.

This project is scheduled for completion in late winter 2011.

Cole County

Daylight Hours

Route 50/63 between Route M and City View Drive - Concrete replacement continues in the eastbound and westbound lanes through Friday, July 29. One eastbound and one westbound lane will be open through the work area.

Route 50 between Militia Drive and the Osage River - Concrete replacement will take place in the eastbound and westbound lanes Monday, August 1 through Friday, August 5. One eastbound and one westbound lane will be open through the work area.

Route 50 bridge over Lafayette Street in Jefferson City - Bridge maintenance will take place during the week of Monday, July 25. One lane in each direction will be open through the work area.

Route 179 between Route C and Edgewood Drive - Grading, drainage, and bridge paving for a new interchange. Motorists should expect occasional lane closures. The entire project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2012.

Route B bridge over the Osage River, approximately two miles north of St. Thomas - Bridge maintenance is schedule to take place during the week of Monday, July 25. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route NN between Old Route 50 and Pea Ridge Road- Culvert pipe replacement will take place on Friday, July 29. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Cooper County

Daylight Hours

Route JJ between Route 135 and end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay continues through Friday, July 29. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Crawford County

Daylight Hours

Route 19 between Route 8 and the Dent County line - Roadway maintenance and repair will take place on Thursday, July 28. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route F between I-44 and Route 19 - Partial surface overlay continues through Wednesday, July 27. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route P between I-44 and Route C - Chip sealing roadway surface to extend pavement life. The operation will take place Monday, August 1 through Thursday, August 4. Motorists should expect to encounter loose gravel on the road surface for several days after the seal coat is complete. At that time, crews will sweep the roadway. Drivers should lower their speeds through the area. Motorists should expect delays. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route Y between Route 8 and the Washington County line - Roadway maintenance and repair continues through Thursday, July 28. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route EE between Route F and the Gasconade County line - Partial surface overlay continues through Thursday, July 28. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route YY between Route M and the Phelps County line - Roadway maintenance and repair will take place on Wednesday, July 27. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Dent County

Daylight Hours

Route 32 between Route 72 and the Texas County line - Roadway resurfacing continues through mid-August. One southbound lane will be open in the work area.

Route U between Route 68 and end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay will take place on Thursday, August 4. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route FF between Route 72 and Route 68 - Partial surface overlay will take place Monday, August 1 through Wednesday, August 3. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Gasconade County

Route H between Route 19 and Route E - Partial surface overlay continues through Friday, August 5. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route 134 between Route 42 and the end of state maintenance - Roadway resurfacing is scheduled to begin Wednesday, July 27 and continue through early August. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route C bridge over Mill Creek west of Brumley - Bridge maintenance will take place on Wednesday, August 3. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Miller and Maries Counties

Daylight Hours

Route 42 between Route 54 in Miller County and Route 63 in Maries County - Roadway resurfacing will begin Wednesday, July 27 and continue through late August. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Miller and Moniteau Counties

Route 87 between Route C and Route 52 - Roadway resurfacing continues through early fall of 2011. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Miller and Morgan Counties

Route C between Route 100 and Route A - Partial surface overlay will take place Monday, August 1 through Wednesday, August 3. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route J between Route 89 and the Gasconade County line - Partial surface overlay will take place on Thursday, August 4. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route P between Route 133 and Route T - Partial surface overlay continues through Thursday, July 28. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route CC between Route 50 and the end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay continues through Thursday, July 28. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Daylight/Overnight Hours

Sestak Slab low-water crossing on County Road 521, approximately three miles from Route T - Replacement of the low-water crossing as part of federal stream mitigation requirements continues through late August. The road will be closed to traffic during construction. Motorists are asked to seek alternate routes around the work area.

Pettis County in Kansas City Region

Daylight/Overnight Hours

Route W bridge over Flat Creek, 4.5 miles south of Route 50 - Bridge replacement continues. The bridge is closed to traffic through early August. Motorists are being detoured around the work area on Routes 50, 135 and DD. This project is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.

Pettis and Benton Counties

Daylight Hours

Route 65 between Route B in Sedalia and Route 52 at the Pettis/Benton County line - Roadway resurfacing continues in the northbound and southbound lanes continues through Friday, July 29. One lane will be open in each direction through the work area.

Pettis, Morgan and Moniteau Counties

Daylight Hours

Route 50 from east of Sedalia city limits to Tipton city limits - Roadway resurfacing continues in driving lanes and shoulders through early fall of 2011. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Phelps County

Daylight Hours

Route 68 just west of Route 8 - Culvert pipe replacement will take place on Wednesday, July 27. The road will be closed in the work area. Motorists are advised to find an alternative route.

Daylight/Overnight Hours

Interstate 44 Business Loop at Mile Marker 184 - Clearing and grading work continues in preparation for the upcoming construction of two roundabout intersections. Periodic lane and ramp closures are expected during the work.

Pulaski County

Daylight Hours

Interstate 44 South Outer Road between Buckhorn and St. Robert - Partial surface overlay will take place on Thursday, July 28. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route 17 south between Interstate 44 and the Laclede County line - Partial surface overlay continues through mid August. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route 28 between Route C and Columbia Road - Roadway maintenance and repair will take place on Thursday, July 28. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route 133 between Route 7 and the Maries County line - Roadway resurfacing continues through mid-August. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route C between Route 28 and the Dixon city limits - Roadway maintenance and repair will take place on Thursday, July 28. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route O between Route 28 and Crocus Road - Roadway maintenance and repair will take place on Wednesday, July 27. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Washington County
