Moniteau County now has additional storage space with the recent acquisition of old Firehouse One of the California Rural Fire Protection District (CRFPD). The building is on Railroad Ave.
According to Presiding Commissioner Kenny Kunze, the City of California owned the property and the CRFPD owned the building. The fire district had planned to take the building down and reconstruct it on another site. Instead, the city sold the land for $1 and the CRFPD sold the building for $15,000.
Among other uses, the building is to be used to house emergency management equipment.
