At a meeting open to the public on Monday, June 20, the Board of Directors of Moniteau County Public Water Supply District No. 2 heard from an engineer and a financial specialist on proposals to upgrade the district.
Michael Logston, MECO Engineering, and Steven Gail, financial specialist with D A Davidson, a municipal bond company, spoke concerning the work needed and means of obtaining necessary funding. David Haldiman presided over the meeting.
The proposal is for the water district to develop its own water source and storage. Currently, the district has neither a well or elevated water storage tank. All water used is purchased from the City of California.
The board has determined it to be in the best interests of the district to have its own source of water and storage tank, but maintain an emergency connection to the City of California.
The proposal includes the district drilling its own well in the vicinity of McGirk and constructing a 200,000 gallon storage tank on a high spot between California and McGirk.
