Moniteau County Hazard Mitigation Plan update meeting held

There were 18 present for the second meeting for the five-year update of the Moniteau County Hazard Mitigation Plan held Wednesday, May 11, at Centennial Hall. Represented were the county, Lupus, California, Tipton, the County Health Department and Emergency Management.

Susan Gallaher of the Mid Missouri Regional Planning Commission (MMRPC) led the discussion and review of parts of the mitigation plan currently in effect. When completed, the information will be submitted to SEMA (State Emergency Management Agency) and FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) for approval then must be formally adopted.

Specifically the Moniteau County group dealt with hazard profiling and mitigation actions involving flood and dam failure.

The reviewers discussed and recommended removal of several "mitigation action" items which were found to be already completed, redundant, unnecessary or meaningless when read.
